A Mid-Year Reflection From Trans Recovery Supply (2021)

The past year brought challenges that affected nearly everyone, including Trans Recovery Supply. Despite uncertainty and disruption, we’re grateful that we were able to continue supporting people through recovery by providing thoughtfully assembled post-operative recovery kits and supplies.

Throughout this period, we remained focused on what TRS was created to do: reduce stress during recovery and help people feel more prepared during an already vulnerable time.

Continuing to Support Recovery, One Person at a Time

Beginning in mid-2020 and continuing into 2021, we connected with individuals and loved ones who built custom recovery kits or sent curated kits to support someone preparing for surgery. While our roots are in gender-affirming care, we were also able to support individuals recovering from other types of surgeries — reinforcing our belief that dignified, well-supported recovery should be accessible to anyone who needs it.

In some cases, this support looked very personal: coordinating directly with people, meeting them where they were, and even delivering recovery supplies in person when possible. These moments reminded us that recovery isn’t just about supplies — it’s about feeling seen, supported, and not alone.

Community Beyond Geography

In 2021, we also had the opportunity to support someone traveling from out of state for surgery. We coordinated their customized recovery kits and were able to personally deliver supplies while they recovered in the Bay Area. Continuing to support their recovery after they returned home reinforced what we’ve always believed: recovery doesn’t stop when someone leaves the hospital, and support shouldn’t either.

Looking Forward With Gratitude

These experiences reflect the kind of care and connection we hoped Trans Recovery Supply could offer when it was first created. We’re deeply thankful to everyone who trusted us during their recovery or the recovery of someone they love.
